Yet a small sign - not the usual "zebra" type remained at the conductor's position on the Queens-bound Whitehall Street platform, center track saying "R 1/9 trains stop here" well into the 1990s- probably until the station was renovated around the Y2K-ish time frame..I wonder if those signs were installed anywhere else along the original BMT subway? At the time, I assumed it was installed post-Chrystie, but now I realize it could have dated all the way back to 1949. |
