Yes, I do. Inefficient? no. Transit facilitates the function of the city--not really very different from paved sidewalks, streetlights, parks, aand all of the otheramenities we thinkof as marks of civilization. You don't pay an individual fee for the streetlight on your street. It would seem you and I sharply disagree on what we should jointly underwrite.
