Sorry but I don't think that you're informed. All sanctuary cities do cooperate and turn people over to ICE. But they make sure that all the paperwork that's legally required is completed. And they typically only do the legal minimum.For example if someone is in a county jail that ICE thinks is here illegally, ICE may ask the jail to hold them longer until they can get the required paperwork to pick them up. A non-sanctuary city says "sure. Come when you're ready". A sanctuary city says "sorry, but that's illegal unless you have the paperwork" and lets the person go. |
