I was not using it with a racial tint. Perhaps that's how younger people use it, but as an old pht I'm not up on the subtleties of these things.I use it to mean a counterculture outlook which encourages conditions such as the LA tent cities. Those encampments likely result from several very different causes, but drugs and single parent families surely play a large role. So, in this case #Woke means, among other things, 'overthrow the Patriarchy, be a single mother!', 'F the straight life, be a druggie!' etc. It could also mean 'everything is racist, no law in the USA applies to me!'. The specifics are different, the general attitude is the same. Obviously I don't own the term, if you want to make it all about a race thing, you can. |
