Re: flushing line isolation

Those switches aren't really new anymore, but they do allow for an easier move from the #7 line to the BMT tracks. Prior to their installation, a train from Flushing (or Corona) that needed to enter the upper level of QBP had to be on the express track from Woodside.

( This map from nycsubway.org shows the old configuration.)

Now a #7 train can approach QBP from either the express or local track (which merge), then crossover and enter QBP upper (wrong-railing), change ends, and crossover to the BMT. But they don't then change ends and wrong-rail through QBP upper on the BMT. Instead they continue north, switching to the middle track before 39 Av, then change ends and proceed normally on the south-bound track.
