It’s not an amateur claim, it’s based on actual experience. I used to have a next door neighbor who constantly vandalized my house and even assaulted my mother. At one point, he broke into the front door and I pepper sprayed him. We both went to the precinct house and although the charges were eventually dropped, I still had to undergo the hassle of being fingerprinted and having to make a court appearance. As far as the neighbor was concerned the case was ACDed (adjourned contemplating dismissal) which means that if he doesn’t commit any more violations, his case will be dismissed. He continued to do a few minor act of harassment and when I informed the DA’s office was told that what he did wasn’t serious enough to warrant any action. Eventually I sold the house and moved out of the neighborhood entirely. |
