Actually, Randyo is absolutely correct about this. I've seen the cops arrest Good Samaritans more than a few times. New York state law imposes a duty to retreat, and if the bad guy wants to complain, he can. The risk of being arrested is a major reason many New Yorkers won't intervene in situations like this. |
