In order to make open end passageways work the trucks need to be as close to the end of the cars as possible, ideally both cars sharing the same truck.Putting the trucks that close to the end s of 75' cars would mean the middles would overhang so much on the curves as to take out the right of way and smash in the middle of the cars as well.
