Tick Tock gang...once again, transportation policy ain't a priority, no matter which party is in power.

Politics aside, if Amtrak owns it, then Amtrak is responsible for maintaining it. I owned an apartment building for quite a few years and if something needed to be fixed or replaced I did the work, not my tenants. Further, I didn't expect any assistance of any kind from them. They paid me rent for my services & to provide a decent living environment. Since the Feds (Amtrak) hold title to all this, it is the Landlord's OBLIGATION to maintain the property. Additionally, this is not something new. The concrete was deteriorating long before the seawater accelerated the process.

It is just another piece of evidence to add to the countless pieces that illustrate the abject incompetence of both houses of Congress to solve the Amtrak funding problem. I fear that even the major disruption that the breach of these bores would cause to the NATIONAL economy won't teach these losers to take the disaster that is the NEC cost shell game seriously.
