Opening doors o the wrong side even with manual operation can be easily avoided by having sensors on the platform side that only allow the doors to be opened onto a platform.It cane also be avoided when the on board sub system that prevents it is enabled. Something that has been disabled because it would act stupid and malfunction because of power upgrades that interfered with the train to wayside train berthed at platform command and acknowledgement.
