Under normal circumstances, the part of the country that the President comes from receives a large amount of federal money for local projects which was the case in the 1930s under the FDR administration with WPA (or some sort of federal) money going towards parts of the IND. The difference is that while both are from NY, the state supported FDR in both the 1932 and 1936 elections whereas NY voted against Trump so the Donald isn’t about to help out a state that didn’t choose to support him. |
