In all my time riding the BMT from the 1950s, I never heard the terms “standard” or “triplex” used. The 67 footers were called “steels” in the Eastern and “ABs” in the Southern and the triplexes referred to simply as “Ds.” According to some sources, the Qs were not usually referred to as “Q types” but merely as “Q cars” since they didn’t fall into the BMT’s scheme of lettering types of cars like the H & M did. |
