The millions it harmed was an acceptable tradeoff, then? Unemployment rate remained at 17 percent throughout (half a million blacks alone were put out of work by the so-called National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933, for one glaring example). The massive increases in excise, income and corporate taxes depressed commerce, and the controls on agricultural and industrial production depressed it even more. Of course, you actually think there's a good side to socialism, as you put it. How about looking at the reality? |
