Re: August 1, 1918 H-System Switchover

Notice some of the variations in station names. For some reason the Astor Pl station is referred to as “8th St” although from the mosaics on the station walls, I don’t think it was ever called anything but Astor Pl. The “Belmont St” station on the Jerome is now called Mt Eden Ave and the naming of the 125 St/Bway station is still referred to as “Manhattan St” which seems to indicate that the path of 125 St had not yet been changed as of 1918. The station at 149 St/Grand Concourse is still referred tp as 149/Mott and the 138/Grand Concourse station is listed as “Mott Haven” indicating that Mott Avenue in that area had not yet been changed to Grand Concourse. I don’t know if it's visible any more, but the tiles at 138/Grand Concourse did read "138 Street Mott Haven” and if you looked carefully at the original mosaics you could see where they were painted over to read 138 Street Grand Concourse. The columns also had enamel signs with the designation “MH” on them
