It was even more of a sight seeing R-44s show up for the first time on the F train at Queens Plaza with a set of R1-9s across the platform on the GG. After being used to R1-9s under Queens Blvd along with slants & R-42s, the R 44 was a shocking leap into the future with its 75 ft length, chime time door closings & shiny interiors. A similar effect on the clientele was when a set of M-1s pulled into Jamaica Sta for the first time next to a set of MP-54s. Talk about night & day! |
