They were never referred to as the Fulton Street elevated for the same reason the Second Avenue elevated stations between Canal Street and 19th Street were never referred to as the First Avenue elevated, even though those stations ran over 1st Avenue in Manhattan. The line was named for the area over which the line ran for the greatest distance. |
