Scrapping may be off the table. Asbestos, you know. Asbestos abatement is expensive in this country, and fed law prevents exporting asbestos in scrap material.WMATA scrapped the remainder of their 1k cars with little fuss after their retirement even though they had asbestos insulation on the HVAC pluming. None of the asbestos was attached to the aluminum parts of the car. John in the sand box of Maryland's eastern shore. |
