Indeed. Once upon a time there was a Breakneck Lodge resturant located along 9D right before the tunnels with great views of the Hudson, Bannermans & the Hudson line. Took my mom there for dinner once and awhile. I'd drive down to Woodside & bring her up for a visit when I lived in Beacon. She always enjoyed a Manhattan with her meal & me my working class Bud Light. Food pricey & mediocore. One of those joints where you pay for the view. It was around the time they had switchers bring out strings of gons filled with muck when they were cleaning up the site where a Mallory battery factory that existed just south of the Cold Spring Station on the land side. They put in a hand thrown switch connecting Tk 1 to a temporary siding there for that work. I'd see those trains from time to time.
The Breakneck Lodge is long since extinct now. The Mallory site is all cleaned up, the siding is ripped up & is now a mini dog walk trail. The switch was removed & returned to Amtrak, from whom it was borrowed, from what I was told.
Just one of the fine memories I have from living in the Hudson Valley.
