The point is quite moot. There is no point to lowering the tunnel floor.The top of the train tunnel is very close to the Park Avenue roadbed. Somewhere the tracks on Park Avenue move to a two level configuration to enter the terminal. I suspect that there is not much clerance between the levels. The Park Avenue line comes down from the 125th Street station, and it must connect to the existing GCT throats. How much geometry is there between the two. Do you want to go down another say three feet, and then have to go back up again at the throats. There are all sorts sof utilities under Park Avenue, including water, sewer, steam, power, telephone and plasma ray conduits. Things do not move easily. Better to leaf them alone. ROAR |
