I had the privilege of meeting Kev 16 years ago on Subtalk Day at Shoreline, along with his widow, Nancy. He was genuinely thrilled to be reunited with 1689, which he said he actually operated back in the day, and acted as though he'd found a long-lost toy. He still remembered the checklist of things to do when prepping a train (which breakers to throw in what sequence) and ran it as though he'd done so only the day before. I considered him a friend and still do. May he rest in peace.On a brighter note, the racing stripe paint scheme is my all-time favorite. The R-10s looked fast in the scheme! |
