One day while I was working the PM out of Met, after a normally busy morning where I didn't even eat breakfast, I did not have time to eat lunch at home so I stopped at the greasy spoon outside of Met for a couple of burgers. 2? Yeah, because the meat he used shrunk down to nothing.I made it to and from Ninth Ave. fine. As soon as I left Met on trip 2 to Bay Pky. I felt rumblings in the front and back. Will I make it to Bay Pky.? I didn't think so, but I toughed it out. I somehow made it. Upon arrival we were supposed to pull our train to the relay position with the switchman pulling us out. That was going to be a no go for me today! I dumped the train and was never off the train so quick before or since. I'm screaming at the top of my lungs "Vinny (the dispatcher), I can't do this today. The door to the office was open and he came running out. He knew I was in distress. I just made it to the "can" and did I ever go. By the time I cleaned myself up and sheepfully went upstairs, everybody was laughing and holding their noses. The stink had come all the way up to the tower! Then it hit me. The cook was frying bacon right next to my burgers. So not only did I get the grease from his burgers, but also bacon grease. |
