gad. this is tedious. but

1. "nobody"? what are we talking about here?

a. government or community sponsored periodically scheduled bus trips from inner city communities out to jones beach? when i was a kid back in the late early seventies we used to see multiple bus loads of kids from newark and other new jersey areas stopping at the local grocery store on islip avenue on the central islip / brentwood border, to, idk, let the kids get last minute supplies for their trips to the huge swimming pool in hecksher state park in east Islip (now closed; upkeep was too much for new york state to afford). those buses ran all summer long and they took the long island expressway to exit 56 - route 111 south to islip avenue south to the sunrise highway to the hecksher parkway to the park. so buses from new jersey knew how to make the trip avoiding the parkways almost all the way. d'oh, indeed.

or

b. a standard bus route from the city to jones beach? like, an n4 "beach branch" route from jamaica? what sense would that make?? and there are no new york city bus routes from brooklyn to nassau.

2. again, "nobody"? tell me, from williamsburg or downtown brooklyn or ridgewood or greenpoint or bushwick or ridgewood or fort green...just how easy is it, do you think, to actually get on the belt parkway? have you ever taken the bqe from metropolitan avenue to the bay ridge merge to the belt parkway out to western nassau county? you think that route is "fast"?? at any time???

oy.
