The original station was simply called “ Bridge St” and had only a Bridge St entrance. When the el was cut back to that location, the statin was extended west to Jay St and a new entrance built there to facilitate a transfer to the IND for passengers needing access to the approximate lower Manhattan area formerly served by the Myrtle and Lex els when they went to Park Row. Although I don’t have complete information on it, I believe that when the el went through to Park Row, there was a portion of the platform east of the station controls and Lex trains used one portion of the platform and Myrtle trains used the other. When the station was made the terminal, the portion east of the station controls was removed and the diamond Xover installed there.
