I remember when that happened as what was Finast (a long-gone chain in New York that survived under that name elsewhere for decades afterwards) on 79th and York become Daitch Shopwell in 1981 or so and The Food Emporium shortly after that (with that location now a Duane Reade, another Shopwell on 1st Avenue between 71st and 72nd also became The Food Emporium around that time and I believe is still there). |
