Horn and Hardart operated several Burger Kings and Bojangles into the 90's.Just like the Carrols chain did - they were a decent burger chain in parts of the East outside the city, and was a lot of smallish/medium sized cities first fast food - and they were pretty good. As the 70s started happening, though, the big boys started making inroads, so they made a deal with BK, and turned quite a few Carrols into Burger Kings. They are now one of the top 2 or 3 franchisees in the BK company. And the company is still called Carrols Development Corp. My very first job was at a BK just remodeled from a Carrols (40 years ago!) |
