Actually, the first was DC Stadium that opened in 1962 and was built for the second Washington Senators, which is still in use as RFK Stadium more than 20 years after the Redskins left for FedEx Field in Landover.Shea was the next such to open. As far as building a domed stadium, no one ever tried it to that point. The Astrodome was an experiment with such. |
