My understanding is it was closed due to the realities of early 1990s NYC. Nowadays, I would think any such passageway would have a healthy NYPD presence should the need present itself.If every subway station with long winding corridors were shut over similar concerns most of the major transfer points of our fair system would be closed. No TSQ, No Broadway Junction, No Court Sq, No Fulton St, so on and so forth. |
