I don’t recall that exit/entrance ever being open till the transfer to the IRT was completed. By the way, one of the stories I heard about the reason the N/B platform of the IRT Bleecker St station was not initially extended south was that there was a gas station with its tanks in the path of a possible extension and its owner refused to move even though the TA was willing to pay for it. |
