And there is one short stretch of the original platform left, on the western end inbound, according to the book too. Don't remember whether or not it was detached from the renovated platform and used for non revenue purposes - I though that's what I remember but I;m not certain.







Express Rider: The original station had three tracks and two outside platforms. The entrance was located on Willets Point Boulevard.
The coming of the 1939 World’s Fair lead to construction of what is essentially a new station constructed to the west of the old one. This is the station that is in use today.
What remains of the old station is this. The mezzanine
at Willets Point Boulevard is still intact and visible from the street. All the stairways have been removed. About 200 feet (+/-) of the original Manhattan-bound platform remains. It is connected to the current Manhattan bound platform at its east end but is separated by a gate. A much shorter section of the original Flushing bound platform was retained as a service platform. It was located east of the current Flushing bound platform but not connected to it.
I do not know if it is still there.
