I finally got a look at the station, and to say I was unimpressed with the construction is an understatement. The station is ALREADY falling apart to wit:1) On the uptown platform, it now pretty obvious that the "raised letters" and mosaic background tiles are not stone, Why? Because they are already breaking and chipping off, showing the wood supports they were mounted on. In fact, one section of the wall was cordoned off because not only the paneling, but the station sign had fallen off. 2) Again on the uptown platform, the wallpaper for the printed words are now bubbling. A LOT. Maybe we should have just gone with patching the pre-9/11 station instead of a renovation. At least it was better built. :-( |
