When I was in the schedule office, the director of rapid transit schedules was extremely lax about dress requirements and most of the schedule managers looked more like janitors than transit professionals. The director of surface schedules, however insisted that his staff wear collared shirts and ties when on duty and each surface schedule manager kept a tie in his desk which he put on when he sat at his desk. I was about the only rapid transit schedule manager who wore a tie at work because I felt that just because my director allowed us to dress like slobs, I was a manager and wanted to look like one! |
