As to WMATA ever having a nice system, no. The list of design/operation mistakes, let alone the toxic worker and mgmt culture, are legion, and fares are outrageous. WMATA needs a total GOH of both the system and the humans. A tall order for ANY GM/board.As one that watched the build out of the railroad almost from the beginning the only design mistake was not building the three 90 degree transfer to the same generous dimensions. The only operational mistake was never procuring enough rolling stock to fully exploit the capabilities of the signaling and train control system. John in the sand box of Maryland's eastern shore. |
