Even though we all loved the classic prewar cars of the IRT and IND, at the time they ruled their respective divisions, they all looked alike with the possible exception of the IRT WF cars. The only one of the divisions prewar that had any semblance of variety was the BMT which had a few variations of their ABs as well as D types and Multis. The prewar IRT and IND probably seem boring to the railfans of the day so it shouldn’t be too surprising that the current generation of commuter rail and rapid transit cars will tend to be a bit boring in their own way. |
