Having used subway/metro systems around the world, I just don't get the focus on one seat rides in NYC.The rest of the world tends to have 1 line=1 service, with the assumption that you will have to transfer for many trips. The rest of the world also has much more reliable systems, and the top systems move more people per track mile. This is due to many reasons, but one is the fact that merges are a key reason for delays. The rest of the world also does fine with 2 tracks and no express service, but that is another topic. |
