I always become really skeptical when somebody mentions privatization as a panacea.$41 billion sounds like a whole lot, until you figure out it was doled out over 47 years. That's less than $1 billion a year, which isn't that much in govt terms. Interesting that he doesn't say how much is actually paid to the host freight railroads, only that it is "relatively low". As for the cheap buses, you get what you pay for. The fares are cheaper and the buses are more frequent, but how comfortable are they? |
