1. Mobile checkout does not use printed receipts. That's another plus.
2. Not mobile checkout per se, but Tops, a Western New York supermarket chain used to have an Easyshop feature where you walked around with a pricing gun. Non-barcoded items would work in one of three ways:
a. You would scan the barcode on the price display sign.
b. The scale would print a barcode after you selected the item using a touchscreen.
c. When checking out, you had an opportunity to scan additional items at the register. The process there was just like a standard self-checkout.

C is impossible with mobile checkout as the process is entirely on the phone and B works because the app could allow the browsing of products. A is therefore irrelevant.


3. Since mobile checkout would require an account with the app, this is less of an issue; the human could authorize you one time for all time.
