Something that many railfans may not know is that the 2 experimental Multi units, the Zephyr and the Green Hornet had extendable rear view mirrors on both sides of the transverse M/M’s cabs so that the M/M could operate doors on both sides of the unit without leaving his seat. That was of course before the development of TV and the production Multis had small doors in the sides for the cars by the cabs for the eventual installation of rear view mirrors although those doors were sealed shut and mirrors were never installed. |
