The history of all the towers on the Culver Line seems a bit fuzzy. I mentioned trying to find info about the original interlocking machine in K/Hwy tower but haven’t been able to find any info. Thee is or at least was a closed tower at the S/E of Ave X station which probably would have been the original Tower C but I have heard that no machine was ever installed there. As for the tower at Ditmas, I have no info on that either although I suspect it might have been built to control the switches at Ditmas and 18 Ave prior to the actual completion of the connection probably sometime immediately following unification. However, by the time the connection was actually completed the state of the art of signaling was such that the switches were able to be controlled from the small NX machine installed in Church Ave tower instead. |
