It was once one of the Western Maryland units that became LIRR power packs 607-610. This was one of them. They converted it to 480v AC HEP power cars 3100 to accompany the C-1 bi-levels around 1990, with WABCO bull-cock couplers, and nose chopped off to be the rounded open platform. It also got all stainless siding and M-1 style end doors. Conversion cost them $800K.

Then converted back to a 650v DC power pack with the last of the Pullman-Standard trains. It has not run since 2000.
