Providence should be easy and only modestly expensive, just a matter of buying locomotives and/or rolling stock to serve an existing electrificationAnd allegedly from what I've heard, substations, as Amtrak basically drew up the NEC electrification with only their units in mind. FWIW, while anything electric would be nice, I'd hope that MBTA thinks outside of the box and buys FLIRTs. If you're going to go electric, it would be best to do it right and get high acceleration multiple units. |
