I can’t be sure of that but they certainly look like steel to me. The design of the cars with the porthole windows seems to indicate a design contemporary with the LIRR MP54s which were steel. I don’t think that any RR would have continued to order wooden cars once it was proven that all steel cars like the IRT Gibbs and the LIRR MP-41s were practical. |
