Interesting to note that there was a cable car line on Park Ave. from Grand to Broadway for a few years. Used technology that weren't used by other cable car lines so they wouldn't run into patent issues and the costs involved there. Also the line was funded kind of peculiar also, and a few people made off with the cash and some got caught/jailed when things went kaput.The els radiating from downtown Brooklyn were built by independent competing companies, with some consolidation while construction commenced or shortly after operations began. Fascinating story of all these companies, who funded them, what got built, not built and who sued whom. |
