The super-clean state of the station and lack of even a single passenger tells me that this was a publicity shot and/or a test train just before the line opened. Also, I'd never want to argue with anyone who remembers, or has spoken to anyone who remembered, what things were like back then- but everything I've read tells me that the first Queens Boulevard service was provided by the E. Maybe they wanted to designate it as such, even though it was a local, to make it the primary letter for the line- sort of like how the 8th Ave Line is the A- even though the D runs on it a lot (as did the original C, back then)? |
