Stoneham was out the door. anyways - he had his AAA franchise in Minneapolis, and a new stadium being built there. O'Malley needed a second team out there to make scheduling out there feasible. He did some of the groundwork for Stoneham, then got him drunk, and took him to the site of Candlestick at 1 in the afternoon - before the cold wind started, and sold him on the Bay area... |
