Growing up in Rego Park and using the Q60 (Green Bus), which always had split route and destination signs, when I first saw a TA bus in Flushing with a single sign (and no Q in the route number), I thought that was a stupid design, because you couldn't possibly have all the destinations listed for all the routes. The split design made the most sense. Then the R40s came with the same design flaw, which lasted until the R62s. (Young folks here may not recall that the R44s and R46s came with those same one-piece side signs, before they were replaced by the yellow electric signs.)  |
