Tuscarora Almanac – March 15, 1931 – The Book of First and Last Runs

The Fifth Avenue – New Rochelle trolley line is converted to bus operation. Bus service will be provided by the Westchester Electric Railroad Company as Route F.

Tuscarora Almanac - March 15, 1965 - The Book of First Runs

The new PATH PA-1 cars 600, 601 and 100 made test runs today on the Long Island Railroad. They operated on the Mainline between Jamaica and Woodside. They were hauled out to Long Island City by GG-1 4862.

Tuscarora Almanac - March 15, 1991 - The Book of Last Runs

The last day of RDC operation on the Port Jervis Line was March 15, 1991. The final run was made by RDC-1's 43 and 65 on Train No. 55, a Suffern to Port Jervis local.

The RDC were built by the Budd Company as self-propelled diesel units No. 43 was built in March, 1953 and saw service on the New Haven, Penn Central, Conrail and Metro-North Railroad. No. 65 was built in April 1953 for the New York Central Railroad. It went on to see service on Penn Central, Conrail and Metro-North.

The Intervale Avenue-163rd Street Station is temporarily closed after being damaged by a fire set by vandals. (This station is located on the White Plains Road Line between Simpson Street and Prospect Avenue stations).

Tuscarora Almanac - March 15, 1998 - The Book of Last Runs

The Long Island Railroad closes three stations today all of which are on the Montauk Branch; Center Moriches, Quogue and Southhampton Campus. The last train from the city stopped in Center Moriches at 1:15 AM on Monday, March 16.
