Tuscarora Almanac - March 12, 1906 - The Book of First Runs

Interborough Rapid Transit Company


The IRT Broadway Line is extended from 157th Street to a temporary station at 221st Street. Stations are opened at Dyckman Street, 215th Street and 221st Street. The temporary station at 221st will remain in service until January 14, 1907 when the line is extended to 225th Street.

The stations at 168th Street and 181st Street will open on May 30, 1906. The station at 191st Street will open on January 14, 1911. The station at 207th Street will open on April 1, 1907.

Buses replace streetcars on New York Railways 6th Avenue Line. The replacement bus service will be run by New York City Omnibus as Route 5.

Super Express service during the AM rush begins on the Flushing Line. Service during the PM rush will begin on September 8. Super Expresses run non-stop between Willets Point Boulevard and Queensboro Plaza.
