During the construction of the subway (especially the IND), there were a lot of buildings demolished to make way for the subways and their curves and switches.80+ years later, you can find a number of parks and parking lots where land was cleared for subway construction. In the more extreme examples, blocks of Greenwich Village had new Avenues cut through them for the Duel Contracts and IND lines. |
