Because of the getting off of the Maple Leaf at the border in each direction has surpressed ridership, the process takes longer on the Adirondack. I usually encounter about 140 people on the train at the border.Reading VIA Rail's annual report, ridership on the Canadian side of the Maple Leaf averages 43 per train. It is the financially the weakest performing train in the entire VIA Rail system, even worse than the 1 coach Quebec remote trains (I have been on that too). Your 3 or 4 against 43 is pretty well in line with the 1 in 10 I said are pulled to the Adirondack's dinette car. |
