One wonders with the house cleaning at NJT already under way, if NJT's love affair with BBD will survive, too.Stadler has a potential multilevel EMU contender in the KISS car being built for California, and they'd probably love to snag a major order in the US at this point. I also wouldn't count Siemens out, they've got an excellent multilevel EMU in Europe. Think near Arrow III performance, and a nice interior. I rode on them on SBB 8 years ago, they were pretty fucking impressive. Assuming FRA alternate compliance rules, I bet that a US version would be on par or even better performance - 16 2/3rd Hz transformers are heavy beasts even compared to 25Hz ones... |
